“GOD’S WORD: HOPE FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW” Rev. Kofi Owusu Bible Week is celebrated in a number of countries around the world. In Ghana, it has been celebrated for many years. It is used to draw attention to the CENTRALITY of the Word of God in the lives of a people and of the Church of God. We know that the Word of God is perfect, reviving the soul, it is trustworthy, making wise the simple. They are right giving joy to the heart; are radiant, giving light to the eyes. They are sure and all together Righteous. They are more previous than gold, sweeter than honey, and by them the servants of God are warned. In keeping them, they have great reward! This year, we are discussing “God’s Word: Hope for Today and Tomorrow” as theme. In a world which is fast changing with its devastating consequences and loss of hope by many, it is important that we return to the Bible – that which gives us hope for the present and hope for the future. Again, in a world which is focusing so much on the here and now and how one can prosper and make it, it is important to be reminded that life is more than possessions and that that is a future coming when each one of us will give an account of himself or herself. God’s Word gives us confidence to face that future. |
